Annoying Neighbors Band

“Passacaglia” is a form of music and dance originating 1600s Spain. It features continuous variations of a melody over a repeated theme in the bass.

Bach, Aaron Copland, and Dmitry Shostakovich are among the composers who have written in this style.

The origin of this particular Passacaglia can be found in short section of Passacaglia in G minor by George Frideric Handel (1685-1759).

This short section, which takes place about  2:30-3:00 minutes into the five-minute composition, was “covered” by Johan Halvorsen (1864-1935).

More recently, the Halvorsen version was covered and arranged into a piano piece by Monawar Nassar.

Our cover ~ a cover of a cover of a cover ~ began with Pam’s piano version of the Monawar Nassar arrangement.

Using some digital magic, we added a choir and a tuba into the mix.
